Random Acts of Flyness: Mobile Game
To complement an episode of Terence Nance’s innovative, stream-of-consciousness Random Acts of Flyness, HBO launched a browser-based mobile game. Part of Nance’s goal of “shifting consciousness,” Kekubian Assassin transforms first-person street harassment into a gamified experience. The user plays as Najja, a Black woman who is verbally assaulted through different locations (an urban street, a bar, a grocery store). Users defend themselves by shooting unwelcome scowls at enemies and throwing shade at anyone trying to steal Najja’s joy.
